Pooch Patrol Scoop: December 2023
Our client newsletter with updates, small biz & rescue shout outs & jams
Pooch Patrol Scoop πΆ December 2023
Season's greetings,
I hope it's been an amazing year for all our pawparents.
December has been the busiest and best month for us since I opened Pooch Patrol three years ago. I've learned the importance of pivoting in business and planting seeds (of positivity). You reap what you sow when it comes to harvesting, right?
Keep calm and carry on because you rocked this year. Anything you didn't finish can happen in 2024.
Give yourself a break and celebrate the life that you have π―

General Updates πΆ
Since it's the end of the year, this newsletter has extra and important content going into 2024.
Welcoming New Rescue Clients
Five new clients joined the Pooch Patrol family: Celina, Sabrina, Yeezy, Vinnie, and Birdie so we're super excited to be caring for them into the new year. They're all rescues and surrenders from previous homes.
Second Security Gate Added
We've added another metal security gate to our lower level. This will help keep our seniors with vision and mobility issues safe from the stairs. It's also great for clients that prefer separation and quieter space to chill.
Pooch Chill Pricing Adjusted
We've adjusted the pricing on our 600mg strength (from $65 to $50) so it follows a standard product markup and is more affordable. If your pup is sensitive to loud noises, pick up a bottle or two for the new year. They're small and make the best stocking stuffers. Use your poochclient coupon to receive $10 off your order.
Real Meat & Whimzees Treats Are Back
Many our clients love snacking on Real Meat turkey & venison treats so they're back in stock. This food is very high-value and doubles as training treats. For our puppy and chewer clients, veggie pig ears are back too. Yum!
Update Your Pup's Vaccines
Please get your dog's vaccines updated for canine influenza, Bordetella, parainfluenza, and canine adenovirus type 2. This will provide protection from the canine respiratory illness (CIRDC) that's been reported in Oregon and across the nation. See the pinned post on our Facebook page for more info.
Rescue Shout Outs π
Meow Village
They're based in Aurora, OR and focuses on improving the quality of life for feral and abandoned cats. They are committed to providing kitties a safe environment to live which includes food, shelter, spay/neuter and medical treatment as needed.
Oregon Saint Bernard Rescue Foundation
They act as a shepherd for Saint Bernard dogs and puppies that are without suitable caretakers and are in need of help. They shelter the homeless, care for and find homes for the unwanted, abandoned, neglected and abused, feed the hungry, and provide medical services to the sick, injured and lame.
Stumptown Strays
They're an Oregon dog rescue dedicated to rescuing shelter dogs with medical needs, providing lifesaving veterinary care, and aiding them on their path to their forever homes.
Small Biz Shout Outs π
Allie's Gift Shop
Congrats to Niko's pawmom, Coley, for being brave and starting her own biz this year! She's got some really fun shirts, hoodies, and mugs for dog lovers who like things with a little sass and humor. Need a last minute gift for the howlidaze? Head over to her shop and support a fellow women-owned small business.
Lottie & Zula's
If you've been to the Wonder Ballroom to see a show, you'd walked by an amazing sandwich shop. It's a locally owned small business by my neighbor, Fletch. Their egg salad and bacon sammie and chocolate chip cookies are to die for. There's also a record and tape shop so hit up this cool spot.
Citrine Bloom
Do you know about the small hidden treasure in Montavilla? Jessica's store is at NE 71st & NE Glisan and offers up a collection of plants, pots, and art from women makers who are non binary. If you're looking for something a little eclectic, stop by her store and grab a tasty coffee next door.
Fresh Tunes π§
Winter is officially here so it's time to start cozying up. Here's some tunes to enjoy:
DogsΒ - a really fun and wacky dog-themed joint effort with my neighbor James who spins at XRAY.fm
TodavΓaΒ - I used to play classical guitar so had to make this mix inspired by Buzz Grazelle who's fretless guitar master
Keys & HornsΒ - a lil' jazz mix perfect for being inside on cold, rainy, and snowy days
Pooch Birthdays π
These sweet pups deserve a big congrats on turning a year older: Kora, Bailey, and Niko. We love you.
